Jan 21-28, 2017 Pine Mountain, Georgia

Chased a big storm on the way to Pine Mountain, but managed to stay behind it all the way... very lucky. Staying at the Pine Mountain RV Resort. Very nice and spacious park.

First time camping in Georgia...

Drove to Providence Canyon, GA or better know as "Georgia's Grand Canyon"...
Not much to it... I guess if you have a lot of Jack Daniels it may start to look like the Grand Canyon...

Next door is the Florence Marina State Park... along the Chatahoochee River... Alabama is on the other side of the river...

On the way back we stopped in Columbus... nice little town with a roaring river going through it... Even Toby enjoyed the walk...

Visited Atlanta... Monty's Alma Mater Georgia Tech...

Shuttle bus around campus... "The Stinger"... much better than walking!

My old apartment on Collier Road... If I only had a penny for every roach that lived with us!!!

It's been raining and cold... time to move on to the coast and get a little warmer... Brunswick, GA here we come!!

Jan 14 - 21, 2017 Southaven, Mississippi

Arrived in Southaven, MS to cold and rain... but the coach is healed with a happy face!! Stayed at EZ Daze RV Park. This is a nice place with a pool and hot tub, just south of Memphis, TN. Graceland is only a few minutes away...

First time staying in Mississippi...

Rain, rain and more rain... we managed to get to Graceland and see Elvis' house from the outside. Not paying $100 to tour an old house full of shag carpet... hahaha

The outside wall is full of grafitti...

We visited the largest Bass Pro Shop in the world... it has a restaurant and a hotel in it!!!

Downtown Memphis... Beal Street...

Last day in Memphis, the sun comes out finally... A beautiful sunset...

Off to Georgia!!!

Jan 06 - 14, 2017 Red Bay, Alabama - Part 2

The weather forecast was for snow showers last night... we did not get the snow, but the temperature dipped to 17° with a wind chill of 5°!!! This is the first time we have been in the coach with weather this cold. We fired up the furnace with no problem... warm and cozy inside!

We finally remembered to add Alabama to our travel map!

We visited the world famous "Coon Dog Cemetery" in Cherokee, Alabama. Three requirements must be met to qualify for burial in this unique cemetery; the owner must claim their pet is an authentic coon dog, a witness must declare the deceased is a coon dog, and finally a member of the Key Underwood Coon Dog Memorial Graveyard Inc. must be allowed to view the coon dog and declare it as such... More than 185 coon dogs have been laid to rest here...

Th first dog was buried here in 1937... His name was Troop... His owner wanted Troop buried on his favorite hunting campground! This started the whole cemetery idea...

Some of the headstones are crafted of wood, some of sheet metal, and some not unlike the stones found in a "normal" cemetery. The headstone on the right is for Black Ranger who was buried here in 1976... "He was good as the best and better than the rest"...

We visited Tuscumbia, Alabama. We read that there was a very nice manmade waterfall... you be the judge...

Tuscumbia is also where Hellen Keller was born. Her grandparent's house (Ivy Green) was built in 1820, survived the Civil War, and is maintained in its original state.

After 12 days, our coach is feeling a lot better and we can move on...
2017 Adventure---- here we go!!! Next stop Southaven, Mississippi (just outside Memphis, TN)!!!
