Jul 28 - 30, 2017 Phelps, New York

Once again needed a weekend stay somewhere because could not get a reservation at our destination. Found a spot at Cheerful Valley Campground in Phelps, New York. This place is busy with a combination of trailers and tent campers. There are a total of three motorhomes here. Mostly neat campers, but there are a few that look like a tornado hit their site.

SENECA LAKE
Close to our campsite is Seneca Lake, one of the 10 finger lakes in upstate New York. This is the northern tip of the lake in the town of Geneva, NY. Very peaceful and clear water...

WATKINS GLEN, NY
At the southern end of Lake Seneca, is Watkins Glen State Park. It has a 1.5 mile series of trails along the Glen Creek. It is a crowded hike, but lots of opportunities for pictures...

Route 14 takes you the whole length of the Seneca Lake on the west side. There must be over 20 wineries along the way. You can also see wineries on the east side of the lake. Really nice way to make a living!!!

We were here just a weekend so moving on a little west to the town of Batavia, NY and more finger lakes and Niagara Falls...

Jul 21 - 28, 2017 Westhampton, MA & Verona, NY

We could not get a site in Verona for seven days so had to stop on the way...

WESTHAMPTON, MA
Stayed at the Northampton/Springfield KOA in Westhampton, Massachusetts. This was just a weekend stop. Not much to do here...

However, Cori did find a house she loved...

VERONA, NY
Moved to Verona, New York. Stayed at The Villages at Turning Stone. This was suggested to us by someone we met in Connecticut. This campsite is part of a casino complex run by Oneida Nation Indian tribe. The campsite in possibly the nicest one we have stayed this year. Completely paved with lots of beautiful landscape and small ponds. Had problems with the camp electrical system. The camp sent an electrician twice... finally got it resolved!

ONEIDA LAKE, NY
Just north of the campsite is lake Oneida... since it has been raining non-stop, we decided to take the short drive to the lake and check it out... Nice small lake, but the weather is still bad...

OSWEGO, NY
Northwest of here is the town of Oswego on Lake Ontario. We travelled there just to see Lake Ontario, but found a fort! Fort Ontario has been here since the early 1755. It has seen its fair share of battles and changes through the years... nice location on Lake Ontario and the mouth of the Ontario River.

Entrance from Lake Ontario to the Ontario River in Oswego...

Showing off Lake Ontario

It has rained here almost everyday... now moving on west...

Jul 14-21, 2017 Cape Cod, Massachussetts

New state!!! Staying at Bay View Campground in Bourne, MA. Large park with pool and lots of activities. Had to stay in one site for one night and move to another for the remaining 6 days... it was the only way to stay in the area. All parks are full this time of year...

The people that work at this park drive their golf carts like maniacs... unfortunately, a little girl darted out from behind a car and was hit by a golf cart... She is fine, just a few bruises... it reminds me of the guy we helped in Bucks Lake in California... Don't like this kind of excitement...

PROVINCE TOWN, MA
Took a long drive on Route 6A to Provincetown. This town is on the tip of Outer Cape. The drive is very nice with plenty of nice houses, art shops and restaurants. There is a state park and some great views although it was pretty overcast...

BOSTON, MA
Only an hour north is Boston. Decided to visit on Sunday to avoid all the traffic during the week. Such a nice city with its old structures and charm...  Visited "The Commons" which is Boston's version of Central Park in NYC, except a lot smaller.

Next to the Commons is the State Capitol... very nice!

The Old State House

Boston Harbor

So many neat buildings...

And of course... Cheers...

FALMOUTH, MA
Just down the road from us is the town of Falmouth. Cute little town with shops and restaurants. Got to try "Lobster Ice Cream"... wow! What an experience!!! It's regular butter flavored ice cream with lobster pieces frozen in the ice cream.  It tastes good when you eat it, but then the lobster taste sticks with you all day... Glad we tried it... never again!!!
Great looking lighthouse that is run by the Coast Guard...

HYANNIS PORT, MA
Just down the road from Falmouth is Hyannis/ Hyannis Port. This is a lot more crowded and more of a business atmosphere... The Port area is nice...

The cape in general is a lot more laid-back than we thought and not as touristy as many other places. It has more of a small old town atmosphere with a big traffic problem... we will definitely come back!!!
